1. Introduction

2.3 Wallpapering / Wallcoverings

  • Guarantee Period: 12 months

  • Covers: peeling seams, bubbling, lifting edges, and misalignment caused by poor installation.

2.4 Specialist Finishes (Venetian plaster, textured coatings, murals, etc.)

  • Guarantee Period: 12 months

  • Covers: workmanship-related defects and finish failures not related to external factors.

2.5 Woodwork / Varnishing / Staining

  • Guarantee Period: 12 months

  • Covers: cracking, peeling, or finish failure caused by poor preparation or application.

3. What This Guarantee Covers

  • Defects directly resulting from poor workmanship by [Company Name] Painting & Decorating Ltd.

  • Failures caused by incorrect surface preparation performed by us.

  • Issues arising from materials supplied by us that prove to be faulty.

  • Remedial works will be carried out at no cost to the client.

  • All repairs will be performed using similar or matching materials wherever possible.

4. No-Quibble Snagging Policy

For 30 days following project completion, we operate a no-quibble snagging policy.
If you notice any minor issues—such as small paint drips, missed patches, tiny imperfections, or other finishing concerns—we will return and rectify them promptly and without debate.

5. Exceptions – When This Guarantee Does Not Apply

This guarantee will not be valid in the following circumstances:

5.1 Environmental or External Causes

  • Damage from damp, leaks, structural movement, condensation, mould, or water ingress.

  • Damage caused by extreme weather conditions (for exterior works), including storms, frost, heatwaves, or prolonged moisture.

5.2 Client Actions / Third-Party Interference

  • Work altered, repaired, or tampered with by anyone other than [Company Name] Painting & Decorating Ltd.

  • Damage caused by other trades, contractors, or the client after project completion.

5.3 Wear, Tear & Maintenance

  • Natural wear and tear, fading, or discolouration caused by sunlight, cleaning products, or environmental exposure.

  • Stains, scratches, scuffs, or impact damage occurring after completion.

5.4 Substrate or Structural Issues

  • Failure of plaster, render, brickwork, or underlying surface not prepared or installed by us.

  • Cracks caused by structural settlement, moisture issues, or defective substrates.

5.5 Client-Supplied Materials

  • Problems arising from paints, wallpaper, or materials provided by the client that prove defective, unsuitable, or incompatible.

5.6 Areas Excluded from the Guarantee

  • External woodwork exposed to constant moisture (e.g., unprotected sills or unpainted end grains).

  • Previously failing substrates where guarantees cannot reasonably be provided (and where the client has been advised before work commenced).

6. Conditions of the Guarantee

  • All invoices must be paid in full before any guarantee becomes active.

  • The guarantee is non-transferable and applies only to the original client and property.

  • The client must notify [Company Name] Painting & Decorating Ltd of any issues in writing within 14 days of noticing the defect.
